July 10, 1941 jumped by ME 109’s coming home from sweep into France. Hit in belly of aircraft by cannon fire. Engine OK. Dived for the deck and headed for home. Engine stopped crossing the French coast. Unstrapped to bail out, but decided I was too low. Went in with the Spit, about 3 miles off the French coast. Lucky to be picked up about 4 hours later by German MTB in a thick fog.

The long march, Feb 45 to May 45, with a short stop at Fallingbostel.

Demobed in London, England in March of 1946. Returned to Barclay’s Bank. Came to Canada in 1954.  Joined the T-D Bank. Went into investments, Ames-Greenshields-Burns Bros, as Money Market Trader. Swiss Bank Canada 1981, International Money Market and retired in 1985.
Married Irene Hargreaves in June 1945 and had 3 children. Irene died in 1964.
Married Carol Eccles in 1965 and we had one son.
